FAQ

Why should I get custom earplugs instead of over-the-counter ones?

Custom earplugs are molded specifically to the unique contours of your ear canal, providing a perfect, secure fit and seal. This ensures superior noise reduction, exceptional comfort for long-term wear, and prevents slippage that is common with generic plugs.

What is the process for getting custom earplugs? The process is quick and painless. Mandi Solat will take a physical impression of your ear canal using a soft, safe silicone material. This impression is then sent to a lab to create your custom-molded plugs. The whole process, from impression to receiving your finished product, typically takes a few weeks.

What is the difference between filtered and solid earplugs? Solid Plugs block out the maximum amount of sound possible and are best for sleeping or high-noise environments like a rifle range or construction jobs. Filtered Plugs (often used by musicians, concert-goers, or motorcyclists) use specialized filters to reduce overall volume without muffling or distorting sound, preserving clarity and speech awareness.

How long do custom earplugs last? With proper care and cleaning, custom earplugs made of medical-grade silicone can last anywhere from 3 to 5 years. It is recommended to replace them after 4-5 years because the shape of your ear canal can change over time, affecting the fit and seal. Visit our page to learn more!

How soon can I get an appointment at Audiology Services? We typically can see patients the same week they call. Depending on your need, we will schedule you with Mandi for hearing tests, ear wax removal, and custom ear plugs. We can also schedule you with Larry for all of your hearing aid repairs, programming and remote programming. Call us anytime, 303-462-4900
